With a medical coder training, you’ll learn everything that you need to be a medical coder. But where do you head to when you need a medical coding job? As a new entrant, you might be groping in the dark if you do not have the slightest thought about where you can land your dream job.
Medical coding jobs can be found in a variety of organizations, including government hospitals, private hospitals, both small and large, large hospital systems, clinics and physician groups, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, home healthcare agencies, law firms and consulting firms, billing and coding service providers, among others.
When you go looking for a medical coding job, your search will depend on a number of factors:
• Your level of experience and proficiency
• What income bracket you’re looking at
• What benefits you’re eyeing
• How does freedom and flexibility measure to you

When you go looking for a job in a hospital, be aware that they are more rigid and bureaucratic in their approach to coding employment as compared to smaller medical clinics or physician groups. Moreover if you’re interested in a long-term career as a medical records director or hospital administrator, a large hospital will be your cup of tea as it provides more opportunities for upward mobility.
If you’re looking for a flexible job, then hospital is the right place for you. But, if you want to opt for a stable work schedule, you’ll do well to look for jobs in clinics and physician offices.
Keeping these things in mind will certainly help you land a better medical coding job.
